Dinsmore Elementary, home to Know & Grow Learning Depot, serves the community located in the far northwest region of Jacksonville, Florida, so far northwest that nearly one-third of the school’s boundary line is the Duval County line. While many students have parents who also attended this same elementary school, the area has an influx of new families.

The dairy farms of years past have mostly been converted into family-affordable housing developments. There are few businesses and shops located within the school boundaries. There are, however, quite a few churches.

Now a Title One school, Dinsmore Elementary has nearly 600 PreK to 5 students and 33 classroom teachers (FTE). The school participates in the Community Eligibility Provision which allows the nation’s highest poverty schools to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications. The race/ethnicity is one of the most diverse of all Duval County elementary schools.

Designed by Henry Klutho, well-known Jacksonville architect, this public school opened in 1952. Two newer buildings have added additional classrooms and expanded the library.
