Once again Walmart River City Marketplace came through with a generous grant to support our Kid-Sized Materials program. The materials we’ve provided over the years have been updated to meet newly-mandated learning curriculums and in response requests by kindergarten and first-grade teachers. Each year the support of Walmart River City Marketplace has enhanced our kiddos

Our Supply Refurbishment System has now been adopted by one first-grade classroom.   We look forward to learning how first-grade student supplies differ than those of kindergarten kiddos.

CVC (consonant – vowel – consonant) words are important when learning to read.  We designed this word tray to give young children a big picture view of CVC words. Over the summer, highschoolers volunteered 427 hours helping us prepare for this school year. They put together new literacy materials, including UFLI word trays and decodable notebooks.  They cleaned and organized existing teaching tools:  they replaced batteries in etch-a-sketches, cleaned and counted bags of geo shapes, cleaned and prepped the iPads for screen protector replacements,

All kindergarteners and first grade chair legs now have quiet feet.  In addition to reducing the classroom noise level, the tennis balls also make it possible for the young children to slide and re-arrange their chairs.
